Privacy policy
Last updated: 10 April 2026
Who we are
Bowsy (“we”, “us”) operates the website and web application at https://bowsy.com.au (the “Service”), including petrol and EV charging map features and optional account sign-in.
Information we collect
- Google sign-in. If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google shares with us the profile details you authorise (typically name, email address, and profile image URL) so we can create and maintain your account. Google’s use of information is described in Google’s privacy policy; we only receive what you consent to share with our app.
- Account and app data. We store your account identifier and related preferences (for example saved favourite stations or alerts you create) in our database so the Service can work for you across devices.
- Location. If you allow browser or device location, we use it only to centre the map and show distance-related features. You can deny location and still use address search where Mapbox is configured.
- Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting and infrastructure may process standard technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps) for security and reliability.
How we use information
We use the information above to provide and improve the Service, authenticate you, save your preferences, respond to feedback you send us, and protect against abuse. We do not sell your personal information.
Service providers
We use trusted providers to run the Service, including authentication and data storage (for example Supabase) and, where configured, map and geocoding (Mapbox). Those providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and privacy commitments.
Retention and security
We keep account-related information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information; no online service can guarantee perfect security.
Your choices
You may disconnect Google sign-in or request account deletion where our systems support it (for example via admin tools or contact as described below). You can control location permissions in your browser or device settings.
Australian privacy
If the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) applies, you may have rights to access or correct certain personal information we hold. Contact us if you wish to exercise those rights or have a privacy concern.
Contact
You can reach us about privacy through the Suggestions / Issues option in the app (after signing in) or via details published on the site.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do; continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
